Kat Von D Makeup Kit and Sephora Summer Goddess Palette Review!

My palettes finally came in. :) A few days ago actually, haha. I’ve just been procrastinating hardcore. I haven’t been doing my beauty tip of the days, but I’m going to start right back on it. :) So okay. The wait and surprise is over with. And just so we get this out the way, I don’t represent Sephora or Kat Von D.

I bought Kat Von D’s True Love makeup kit along with Sephora’s Beauty In A Box Summer Goddess Palette

The kit comes with Kat’s True Love palette ($34), two High Voltage eye primers (neutral and dark grey one, $15 each), black Autograph pencil ($18), and Painted Love lipstick in Celebutard that isn’t pictured. My review? I. love. it. This kit was perfect for me, because I didn’t want to spend huge bucks on all of her lipsticks and palettes if they weren’t good quality or didn’t work out for me. I’ve always turned to drugstores for my eyeliners, and I’m stuck on Too Faced’s eye primer to try any other primer. I am SO glad I bought this kit though, because I am truly satisfied with it. It exceeded my expectations, and I will be buying more of Kat’s products in the future.

First, I’m going to start with the eyeliner, because I love it that much. I usually spend no more than 10 dollars on eyeliners, because well… it really isn’t that big of a deal to me. Eyeliner is eyeliner. Oh my goodness. When I tried this eyeliner though, I fell in love. I don’t care if it’s $18. I will eventually have all of Kat’s eyeliners. It’s THAT great. The color glides on SO smoothly, and the packaging is really nice. That’s how any makeup brand gets to me… the packaging. There’s a built in sharpener on one end and a smudger on the other end. Just the whole feel and appearance of the eyeliner looks professional and nice. It’s very good quality too. I had to dance Saturday, and I tested this makeup out to see if it would last. Seven hours dancing and running around outside in the hot, Southern heat? My eye makeup didn’t even look touched. That, ladies and gentlemen, is what I look for in makeup.

The True Love palette is nice too. My first product from Kat was her Truth palette, and it worked out fine for me. Her Truth palette has light, summery colors, but I wanted one of her “darker” palettes. The colors blend easily together, they’re rich in texture, and I also danced with the eyeshadow on  my eyes. I had sweat dripping down my face guys, and my makeup didn’t even smear. Maybe it was the primer that held the makeup together, but I am very surprised and pleased with this product.
As far as her lipstick, nude lipstick is nude lipstick. It went perfectly with my skin color and didn’t dry out my lips. That’s all I wanted, and that’s exactly what I got. :)

As for Sephora’s Summer Goddess palette, it worked out beautifully as well :) The little kit came with two eyeshadows: copper and aqua blue, bronzer, a bronzing brush, an eyeshadow brush, blue eyeliner, and mascara. I tried it out, and I loved the colors! The box has instructions on how to apply the makeup like the cover model, and it couldn’t be any simpler. I did try on this makeup, but only for an hour. I’m not sure if it lasts throughout the day, but the beautiful colors did glide on without ease. The only complaint I have would be the brush it comes with, but it really isn’t that big of a deal. You can’t expect a professional brush to come in a mini kit like that. Just use a separate eyeshadow and blending brush, and you’re good to go.

Both of these kits are absolutely perfect. They make great birthday gifts, stocking stuffers (buy a few now and give them up once Christmas comes!), or just random friendship appreciation gifts. Kat Von D’s kit was $54 total (free shipping if you order online), and the Summer Goddess palette was only $10. TEN DOLLARS. There are other colors and kits from them, and they are all ten dollars. That’s a steal. If you know anybody who is obsessed with makeup, this is perfect.

So to close this, would I recommend both of these products? Most definitely. The colors are beautiful and vibrant, and you’re paying an affordable price for quality makeup. I don’t regret buying these palettes at all. If you’re interested or have been wanting to try them out, please do! It’s worth every single penny.

p.s. I’m going to be creating different looks from Kat’s palette everyday, so keep your eye out for all my looks at the end of the week!

Hey beauties!
So, I haven’t posted in a few days, but I have a few posts for you guys. :) I’ve had a long day, and I’m exhausted so we’ll all have to wait until tomorrow morning or Monday. Bare with me!

Beauty tip no.13
I am a HUGE fan of white eye makeup. It really opens up the eyes and makes you appear more awake, alert, and well-rested. If you’ve woken up from a rough night and need to wake up your eyes ASAP, do the following:

  1. Apply a brightening concealer under the eyes.
  2. Instead of your usual black eyeliner, use a white eyeliner instead on your water line. It gives your eyes a wide-eyed effect!
  3. Curl your eyelashes and apply two coats on the top and bottom lashes.
  4. If your eyes are bloodshot, apply some brightening eye drops.

We all have our rough mornings where we look miserable and exhausted. Using these four steps should help fix that problem in less than ten minutes!

Beauty Tip no.12
Do you have limp, flat hair and lust after the women who have thick and gorgeous manes? You can get that hair too- without damaging your hair with a teasing comb!

Voila! Your locks should be thick and beautiful in no time!
Also, deep clean your hair at least once a week. The buildup of hair products will leave your roots dull and limp. I recommend’s Aussie’s Cleanse and Mend. Affordable, and it gets the job done!

Emma Watson’s NYC Premiere Look!

I love Emma Watson. She’s elegant, classy, and sexy in a subtle way. Her eye makeup was so unique at the premiere, and I found this tutorial from pixiwoo on how to recreate this look.

Will any of you beauties try something so bold and daring as Emma did?

This diagram by lemonparfait pretty much narrows down your skin type and what you should use. You don’t have to use these exact products, but you get the point on what to look for in a cleanser.

Can’t afford a pricey palette from Sephora?

Try Forever 21! I have a few little palettes from them, and they actually work! They aren’t wonderful, but they do work. If you find that the color isn’t applying on well, simply wet the brush. With primer on, it’ll last all day!

Below, I listed cheaper alternatives. They probably won’t work as great as the originals, but the colors are similar, and it’s wallet friendly!

Urban Decay’s Naked - $48

Forever 21’s Leopard Eye Shadow Palette - $5.80

Urban Decay’s Deluxe Shadow Box - $38

Forever 21’s 10 Eye Shadow Palette - $6.80

Too Faced’s Naked Eye Soft & Sexy Collection - $35

Forever 21’s 12-Color Shadow Palette - $7.80

Stila’s Lip & Cheek Stain - $24

Forever 21’s Shimmer Lip Gloss Set - $9.80

Will you be getting the NYX Cosmetics Haute Jersey Leopard Couture Palette? It’s only $25!

How cute! I should not buy anymore makeup considering I blew my money on two palettes last night online… I’m going to resist.

Wednesday Mini Haul :)

I should have posted this yesterday, but I was super tired and lazy. So, here it is. My mini haul! :)

Armstrong McCall is having sales and great deals right now. If you or someone you know is in the field of cosmetology, this is basically the discount hair/nail supply place. Only people with a cosmetology license can purchase anything from there for a cheaper price. Yesterday, I went there with my mom because we needed a new flat iron. We’ve had our Chi iron for about, no joke, 8-9 years, and one of the plates are about to fall off. Think it’s time for a new iron? :P

We decided to get BaByliss’ PRO Nano Titanium because not only is it one of the best in the business, but our hairdressers swear on it. This is the cool part though- along with the flat iron, the Pro Nano titanium Mini iron was thrown in there along with a mini hair drier, comb, and a black bag to hold all of the tools. I go out of town often, so the bag is perfect for holding all of my heating tools without damaging it! I’m in dance team and every time we perform, we always have to part our hair a certain way. I usually have my hair out of my face during school, so I always need to straighten my bangs. The mini flat iron is perfect for those days, because it fits in my crowded dance locker, and it’s super convenient.
Along with the flat irons and blow drier, I decided to throw in BaByliss’ 1 inch curling iron. I don’t really trust any of Wal Mart’s heating products and I’ve needed a curling iron for so long now, so I couldn’t pass it up. It’s a bit difficult to use because of the handle, but I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it. It was about $80, but it heats up super quickly and gives the the curls I want.
Last but not least, I bought Paul Mitchell’s sectioning clips. As an aspiring hairdresser, I experiment and practice with my family and friend’s hair. Instead of using multiple claws to section out the hair, I decided to make life easier and bought these. I tried them on for the first time when I was straightening my mom’s hair. Loved it.

So this is super small… I went to Forever 21 to look for a certain tank top to paint on for my Harry Potter shirt. I found i, but I couldn’t pass up the accessories. I got a sweet hair tie that makes my hair look adorable along with a floral headband. I thought that was it. Until I started to check out. If there’s one thing you should know, I am obsessed with pandas. So seeing the reusable bag for only $1.50? I had to. I couldn’t pass it up at all. So I bought it, and it’s coming with me anytime I go grocery shopping, shopping at the mall, carrying clothes to a friend’s house, or whenever I need it. :)

Any questions on any of these products, I’ll gladly answer!

I find the whole concept of being ‘sexy’ embarrassing and confusing. If I do an interview with photographs people desperately want to change me - dye my hair blonder, pluck my eyebrows, give me a fringe. Then there’s the choice of clothes. I know everyone wants a picture of me in a mini-skirt. But that’s not me. I feel uncomfortable. I’d never go out in a mini-skirt. It’s nothing to do with protecting the Hermione image. I wouldn’t do that. Personally, I don’t actually think it’s even that sexy. What’s sexy about saying, ‘I’m here with my boobs out and a short skirt, have a look at everything I’ve got?’ My idea of sexy is that less is more. The less you reveal the more people can wonder.
